Daniel Ró Bio-Filmography    


Daniel Ró was born in Lima (Peru). His first short film, El Colchón [The Mattress] (1998, 16mm., 12 min.), was very well received at International Film Festivals and obtained a Special Mention at the Cartagena International Film Festival in Colombia and the Award for Best Fiction Short Film at the National Short Film Contest (Peru). In 1999 he directed and wrote Triunfador [The Winner] (1999, 35mm., 13 min.), which was also selected at various Film Festivals around the world, including the prestigious Festival du Court Métrages at Clermont-Ferrand (France), and was purchased by Canal-Plus for international distribution.

 
In 2000 he obtained a scholarship to study a Master's degree in Film at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Back in Peru, he shot Páramo [Moor] (2002, 35mm., 17 min.), based on a short story by the Italian author Alberto Moravia and, the following year, Confianza [Trust] (2003, digital video, 17 min.), which won the award for Best Fiction Video at the National Short Film Contest (Peru). El Diente de Oro [The Gold Tooth] (2005, 35mm., 17 min.), his fifth short film, has won the Grand Jury Award at the World Film Festival at Montreal 2005, presided by Theo Angelopoulos; was finalist at the 6th Annual Latino Filmmaker Showcase of Showtime Networks, Inc., and has been admitted to Official Competition at various International Festivals such as the Huesca Film Festival (Spain); Sao Paulo International Film Festival (Brazil); Rhode Island International Film Festival (USA); Viña del Mar International Film Festival; and the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, among others.
